I began planning my escape years ago. Even with
years of preparation, my chances of being successful are slim. I go over the
plan in my head one last time. It isn’t perfect, and there is far too much room
for error, but waiting for the perfect opportunity is no longer an option. I
can only hope that luck will be on my side. I will only get one chance.
Tris has spent his entire eighteen years inside New Horizon Genetics, a secret research center in rural Kentucky. He was born in this facility, and will die there in the very near future, unless he is able to pull off his escape plan.
You see, Tris is an
experiment. An experiment that has been deemed a failure and will soon be
terminated. He is a genetically engineered human designed to be stronger,
faster, and with more acute senses and higher intelligence than the normal man.
Even with all these advantages, attempting to escape from the high security
facility will be very risky. But it’s a risk he’s willing to take since the
alternative would be to just sit and wait for his death sentence to be carried
out.
Eden lives with her
widowed father in the outskirts of Kentucky in the small town of King’s Crossing.
While most of Eden’s classmates plan to move to the city after their upcoming graduation,
she is perfectly content to stay in the outskirts with her father. But things
get complicated when she finds out that her boyfriend, Kaiden, is going to
propose to her after graduation. Marrying him would mean moving to the city
while he attends medical school. Not only does she not want to move, but she’s
not sure if she wants to marry him at all.
Just
when she’s faced with making a decision that will affect the rest of her life,
she meets a mysterious and handsome stranger in need-a chance meeting that
changes her life forever.
